"Plenty Of Java..."

"I've got plenty of java and chesterfield kings".....
Well, plenty of java, anyhow, as you can see from this painting.
That's a Bialetti. They make the best coffee.
My cousin gave me one a few years ago and I use it all the time.
Used it as a model for this painting as well,
along with the lyrics to Donald Fagen's album, the Nightfly.
My absolute favourite. Well that, and ANY Steely Dan album. : )
Posting this now because I've just found out that they are coming to Toronto in November.
I can't wait!

Guitars and Orchids @ Wall Flower Studio

This painting is from my "Guitars and Orchids" series.

I started painting these when I was making the transition from floral paintings to the abstract room paintings that I do today, and when I really started to use music as a tool with which to paint. This one in particular is my favourite. It was the image that I chose for my showcard invitation at my Steamwhistle Brewery exhibit in Toronto. Found it in the archives of my computer and thought I'd share it here.

Dance Floor - by Karen

"Dance Floor" - Abstract Jazz art - by Karen Sloan
Acrylic on canvas - Sold

What can I possibly say about this one to explain this painting, other than to say it's influenced by some pretty funky jazz !! Was listening to Roy Ayers at the time ... Little bit of everything in Roy's music! Thanks for visiting : )
