Jazzy Musical Interiors. Fun Art @ Wall*Flower*Studio

When I paint, I like to make it look like gravity is in action and that the things on my paintings are sliding down off of the canvas.Adding a somewhat 3 dimensional look makes things appear to be popping off of the canvas.

Bright, bold, musical and fun. That's the way life should be. People are much too serious these days, and when I catch myself behaving like that, I just look at my art. : )

"Tiki Time" - Painting Polynesian Pleasures

Two Tiki mugs I purchased at a second hand store inspired this painting. A favourite of mine for sure! ... Likely this is where Don Ho meets Elvis, on the beach for a drink. ; )

"Nite Life" - Jazz'n art @ Wall Flower Studio

To say that I like Jazz would actually be a huge understatement, however the word "love" is just so over-used these days.

Jazz music appeals to my sensibilities. It's a genre that has so much going on, so much energy on so many levels, and a real creativity that, thankfully, doesn't really appeal to the masses.

Painting alongside Jazz let's loose the muse, and very likely, my work would not be the way it is without it.

"Nite Life" - (Yes, it's spelled incorrectly on purpose)

24" x 24" acrylic on canvas - (SOLD)

The Artful Interior & a Garden Chair Fetish

After I painted this, I've often wished for a real life replica of this that I could actually sit in.
It seems to me that it would be perfectly located in a sunroom.
Of course, one would have to have had a few martini's to make the room feel as wonky as this!

Fruit & Furniture - #art with a sense of humor

There's been many comments about those pears, and I love them all.
Thinking it's a good thing I painted them on the chair. ; )
................
(Of course, Stephen Harper wouldn't approve.
The man disdains culture, would likely refer to my work as degenerate art, and, he lacks any sense of humour at all, which is very ironic since he's a joke as Canada's PM.)

After the Party

A Jazzy interior lounge portrait, complete with comfy slippers, as well as a newspaper for your reading pleasure.

Of course, you may not want to read the paper these days, considering just how badly the current Big "C" conservative government is running (ruining) our country and our democracy.

Yes, that's right, folks, and I do mean "right". We've got a right winged ideologically minded government with control freak, Stephen Harper calling all the shots.

You may know him by his nick-name, "Little Bush". Sad, but true. Karl Rove is seemingly now on the payroll, so to speak, who, by the way, incidently, was in Toronto during the G20 summit. Isn't that strange? He likely set about getting all those blackshirt people out on Yonge street to smash all those windows. Wouldn't suprise me one bit.

Back to Harper... he even had the word "equal" struck from the Status of Women's act, and of course, call me biased, but seems he doesn't like women or artists either. Sadly, it seems that Fascism is alive and well in Canada, for now at least.

Some Examples...

~Suppression of the press, won't answer media questions, but loves those photo ops.

~Taking away women's rights. Deliberatley struck the word "equality" from the Canadian Status of Women's Act.

~Prorogation of Parliament, (twice). Once to avoid a vote of non-confidence from the opposition, and once to avoid questions about Afghan detainees and this government's coverup. Shameful at best.

~Harper muzzles scientific community, and deny's global warming's existance.

-Handing over individual's copyright interests to corporate interests.

~ Ruining the reputation of our world wide esteemed Census process so he can discount, marginalize and ignore certain minorities, advocate groups & the poor.

~ General antipathy and disdain towards the Canadian people, i.e: his constiuents, or, the people who pay him to do his job. Unseat Harper.

-Spending billions of dollars of taxpayers money on a 3 day meeting for his own egocentricity.

-Suspending human rights and Civil Liberties. Creating a police state during that meeting. (G20 summit)

~Detaining people without due process of law. 900 arrests.

-Want to spend billions of taxpayers dollars on new prisons when the crime rate has actually gone down!! (WTF???)

Well, the list just goes on and on...

I imagine they know that their time as the ruling party will be over when the next election is called, and are having their fun with power while they can, because they'll be back to being a very small opposition party once that happens and it'll be a long time before Canadians forget the damage they've done to our great country.

So, this painting is called "After The Party", because when election time comes, and these self serving "Con" artists are sent packing from Ottawa, at least 3 quarters of Canadians will have reason to celebrate.

Coffee Art - of the Cubist Kind

Many would agree that there's nothing like a good strong cup of coffee. Ah, the timeless Bialetti. Form and function at it's finest. Of course, the second cup always tastes better then the first! Really kicks a person into gear.

Interior Pop Art ... Jazz & Food for Music Monday

It's amazing how much of my work has food involved, along the odd Martini or two. I don't even drink very often, but, like you, I do like food. ; )

Seems to me, Food & Drink goes well with Jazz, at least in the visual sense and on canvas.

Food and drink is of course, a universal theme implemented by many artists, but when included in a painting, I much prefer the more decadent kind, like desert, or in this case a slice of pie, which is much more interesting to paint, as opposed to a bowl of oatmeal or a glass orange juice.
