Big Band - Abstract Jazz Art - Music Monday

There are times as an artist, where I'm really pleased with the way a painting turns out. But, let's face it, I don't post paintings here that I think are crap, and believe me when I say that I've created my share of those, but this painting in particular I was really happy with.

It just seemed to me when studying it, these musicians were really seem to be in the groove, looking very intent, focused, and in the present, creating good Jazz sounds.

I was listening to some Sinatra at the time, playing "Mack The Knife" a few times in a row because it was the influence really, for this canvas. I just love it when Sinatra introduces all the guys in the band during that song. It always seemed to me to be such a classy thing to do! Anyhow, this was an interpretation of that.

Pool Party - For a Long Weekend

Well, thanks to good ol' Queen Victoria, (an English monarch long since dead), we get to have a long weekend here in Canada.

Her birthday is celebrated by us Canucks this weekend every year, and it actually happens to be my (and my husband's) wedding anniversary. So I like to celebrate the fact that he's put up with me for 2 decades, now. (Where is the time going?)

Anyhow, back to the painting. When we lived in Toronto, we had an inground swimming pool. I really miss it. We now live in a rural location, by choice, surrounded by beautiful lakes and scenic vistas, a place I totally love, however, when swimming, I don't like that mucky stuff on the bottom of the lake. It totally creeps me out!

So, here's an ode to my former life as a city gal. Maybe one day we'll put in a pool, complete with a grass hut / tiki bar, too!
