Art with an Anthropomorphic Point of View

'Room Service'
by Karen Sloan
We painted our kitchen yellow, but not quite the shade of yellow here in this painting, but a sunny soft butter yellow. We do tend to have somewhat long dreary winters here in central Ontario and it's a cheerful colour that suggests sunshine. But that's from the point of view of an artist who happens to be a gardener, and not someone who hits the ski slopes as soon as the snow flies.

Anyhow, our yellow kitchen was the precursor to this painting, With a blank canvas, one can excercise a little more drama, which is to me, the best part of creating art.

Furniture tends to take an anthropomorphic point of view. I like to instill a little movement on the canvas.. suggesting perhaps that when you leave your house, those ordinary everyday items might just be taking advantage of your absence by turning on the stereo and amusing themselves in a life all their own. ; )

Thanks for visiting!

Karen ... my goodness we share such similar "views" .. I also painted our kitchen a soft yellow because I love it so much .. it relaxes you yet it is lively .. hard to explain but I know you understand since we did the same thing ? LOL
I also wonder what goes on in our house when we leave .. besides my girls (2 funny cats) doing their thing ... haha

LOL, too funny, Joy!
Another thing we have in common! We have 2 girls (cats), as well! They're always up to no good here! ; )
And I couldn't agree more. You've summed it up perfectly! Yellos is relaxing but lively. Seems like a contradiction, but totally true.. Thanks for that!
Love your blog, by the way. I'll look forward to visiting more often.
Have a good weekend!
